Awais is an entrepreneurial executive with a diverse experience in the private and public sector. As a member of a startup team, Awais built a digital firm that had a successful exit and was acquired by a global technology company. He is currently leading an initiative to build an incubator to support entrepreneurs and commercialize early stage technologies from the national research centers in the U.S. Earlier in his career, he was an Executive Director of Venture Capital Group at KPMG, and served as the chair of the editorial board for a leading publication on innovation and venture capital. He started his career at Tandem and Hewlett Packard. In his work in the public sector, he is involved in various international humanitarian projects and organizations. He was appointed the inaugural president of a foundation focused on development in Pakistan. He also founded SC Ventures, a strategic initiative of a $1.8B global
philanthropic foundation, to leverage technology and innovation for development. Additionally, he worked with the leadership at the White House, USAID, and the World Bank to devise a financing framework for development in Africa. He holds a Master of Business Administration from London School of Economics and NYU Stern School of Business, and a Bachelor degree in Computer Engineering from California State University.
